Letters, 1840-1890.

Handwritten letters addressed to Hall's mother, Emma Hall Low. The items deal largely with family and personal letters. Also included are letters from Alfred Hall, Frank's brother, to their mother. Alfred also writes about family matters and about his service with the Union Army during the American Civil War. He served with the Union Army of the Potomac in various areas in and near Virginia with the 3rd New York Cavalry. Also included is a diary by Alfred kept from 1864 to 1865 while he was stationed at "Fortress Monroe" in Virginia.
